Adelyne M. Lankki, 95
Adelyne Marion Lankki, age 95, of Cokato, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Cokato Manor.
She was born April 20, 1921, in Cokato, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Svanda) Dahlin. Adelyne was baptized May 29, 1921, and confirmed in her faith May 13, 1934, both at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato.
She graduated from Cokato High School in 1938.
Adelyne was joined in marriage with Ernest Lankki Nov. 4, 1945, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato. To this union, a son, Gary Michael Lankki, was born. Adelyne took great joy in being Gary’s mom, and treasured spending time with him.
Adelyne was a housewife, and also employed at The Farmers Grocery Store in Cokato for several years. She dreamed of someday owning and managing her own grocery store.
As a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato, and for many years North Crow River Lutheran Church, rural Cokato, Adelyne participated in the W/ELCA ladies group, the quilting group, several Bible study groups, and served on the church council.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also loved to fish, and follow Minnesota Twins baseball.
Adelyne was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, in 1984; her parents, Alfred and Anna; and siblings Albin, Oliver, Arnold, Mildred, Clarence, Helen, Lillian, and Ellsworth.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Wendy) of Dassel; four grandchildren: Kari Kern, Dan (Steph) Robertson, all of Cokato, Kristi Hiivala of Buffalo, and Michael (Mary) Robertson of Sartell; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ardelle Dahlin of St. Michael; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and many friends.
Funeral services took place Friday, June 17 at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato, with the Rev. Mark Little officiating. Karen Anderson was the organist, and Natalie Dahlin and Kyle Little sang “Homeward Bound.” Congregational hymns were “Lift High the Cross,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment was in the church cemetery.
There was visitation at the church from noon to 2 p.m., prior to the service.
Casket bearers were Dan Robertson, Mike Robertson, Elroy Dahlin, Donald Dahlin, Steve Dahlin, and Mark Dahlman.
Arrangements were with the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato.
