Edna Ethel Leinonen, was born in Finlayson,
Minnesota on October 22, 1912 to Charles and Amanda Aleksandra
Hellman. She grew up on a farm there.
On May 15, 1936
she married Martin Leinonen in Minneapolis,
they made their home in the Minneapolis
area, to this union 3 children were born: Maxine, Lonso, and Lance.
They later lived on Washington Lake of Dassel Minnesota.
Martin passed away while living there in 1989.
Edna lived in Howard Lake
for a short time, then the Cokato Apartments and then Cokato Manor.
She enjoyed gardening sewing and fishing on the lake. She was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran
Church of Cokato.
Edna passed away at Cokato Manor on January 1, 2013, she had reached the age of 100
years, 2 months and 9 days.
Survivors include: Son Lonso (Sandy) of Oronoco,
Minnesota, Grandchildren: Jill Johnston of Wenatchee,
Washington, Scott Johnston of Olympia,
Washington, Michelle Eikenberry of Wenatchee,
Washington. Also 6 great grandchildren.
Edna is preceded in death by: her parents Karl Charles and
Amanda Aleksandra Hellman, husband Martin, son Lance, and daughter Maxine
Johnston. Also 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11:00
AM Friday January 4, at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato.
Visitation will begin at 10:00
AM on Friday and continue until noon.
Interment will be with the immediate family at a later time.
