Funeral Service for Ethel Hess will be at 11 AM on Monday July 11, at the Stockholm Lutheran Church
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Sunday at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato and 1hr prior to service at church on Monday
Paryer service at 7PM on Sunday
Ethel Irene Hess was born June 26, 1923 in Cokato to Carl and Anna (Nevala) Terning. She grew up in Cokato was baptized and
confirmed at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Ethel married Omar Hess in
1940 at The Little Brown Church in Iowa. She attended Anoka Ramsey Community
College
earning her LPN degree. She worked at
the Hutchinson Hospital for a number of years. Omar and Ethel did dairy farming in Glenwood City, Wisconsin and crop farming in Minnesota areas. They
moved to town in 1980 and spent winters at their home in Tucson,
Arizona.
Ethel enjoyed sewing, music
and gardening. She enjoyed spending time
with her birthday club and sewing club friends.
She was involved in her church and community.
Ethel passed away on July 6, 2011 at Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson. She had
reached the age of 88 years and 10 days.
Ethel is survived by her five
daughters, Mary Ann (James) Ryan of Cokato, MN, Katherine Jolin of Springboro, OH, Jane Ray of St. Paul, MN, Carolyn (Dr. Carl) Cole of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Brenda Hess of Redondo Beach, CA; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Ethel was preceded in death
by her parents, husband, seven brothers & sisters and son in law Dr.
Timothy Jolin.
