GLENN (JAKE) ELWYN FELMLEE
July 10, 1930 – December 18, 2012
July 10, 1930 – Born to John & Bessie (Sherman) Felmlee – Jim Falls, Wisconsin.
Glenn graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1948.
He joined the U.S. Navy Air Force in 1950 and spent the next 4 years in the Korean War as a gunner. He was a proud veteran and loved his country dearly.
In 1951 he married Norma Jean Barthen to which 3 boys and 3 girls were born.
Glenn entered the insurance business after the service and continued in that occupation for the next 60 years as a dedicated, trusted agent. He always went above and beyond the call of duty with his clients, remembering all of them on their birthdays with a card and personal note.
In 1978, Wanda came into his life and they were married in 1979. With her two children and his six, much joy was brought into their lives.
Glenn was an avid Packer fan and deer hunter. He enjoyed playing many sports in his life including donkey baseball, boxing while in the Navy, church volleyball, and in most recent years Senior Softball.
In 1974 Glenn donated one of his kidneys to his brother in one of the first- ever kidney transplants at the University of MN.
Glenn will always be remembered as a very kind, compassionate and caring man who never spoke a negative word about anyone. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Besides his wife, Wanda of thirty-three years, he left behind all eight of their children – sons: Jack, Mark, Matt and step-son Darren Bruss – daughters: Dawn Harrison, Lisa (Mike) Windsor, Gina Wilson and step-daughter Starla Powers.
Grandchildren: Stacy, Joshua, Jason, Jenifer, Sarah, Ashley, Alison, Abbie, Dustin, Nicolette, Tucker, Isaiah, Courtney, Tanner, Anissa, Hayley and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will take place at the Elim Mission Church in Cokato on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Minnesota Kidney Foundation.
