Barbara Jean (Drietz) Hoppe, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, tragically passed away on September 4, 2024 at the age of 85.
Barbara was born to Paul and Lucille Drietz on June 24,1939 in Ivanhoe, MN. She married Edward Hoppe on June 24,1958. Edward was the love of her life for 65 years. They had five children, Richard, Lucille, Theresa (Mike), Susan, and Michael (Annalisa).
Barbara worked as a Teller at Wayzata State Bank, Mail Handler at Waverly Post Office, Assembler at Tonka Toys, and Machine Operator at Astro Mailers.
Her glowing smile, joyous laughter and unwavering faith in God will never be forgotten.
She loved raspberry shakes, strawberry pie, family camping trips and the color lilac purple. She loved pickles and found herself in the late hours of the night canning vegetables from her garden.
Her pastimes included sewing, word finds, playing cards, embroidery, puzzles, watching her grandchildren and her daily walks around the neighborhood.
She enjoyed music in the park, fish-fry Fridays, county fairs on senior day, church festivals, polka dancing, fishing and going to Catholic Mass with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Lucille, brother Carol, daughter Lucille and husband Edward.
Survived by daughter’s Theresa and Susan and son’s Richard and Michael. Brother’s Joe (Judy) and Jim (Janice) Drietz. Sister Doris (Francis) DeSmet. Sister-In-Law, Elane (Gervase) Pepin. Grandchildren, Amanda (John), Rebecca (Chris), Michelle (Alvin), Christina (Lee) and Adam (Amy). Great-Grandchildren, Abigail, Kelly, Laikyn, Kayce and Adalyn. Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waverly, MN (Rosary 6:30 p.m.)
Funeral Services, Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation 9-10:15 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waverly, MN.
