Lundeen, Dennis Reuben 97

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Dennis Reuben Lundeen, who left us to go to his heavenly home on July 22nd, 2024, at the age of 97. He passed away at Banner University Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

He was a man of faith, immense humor, and wisdom. He cherished every moment that he spent with his family and his loved ones. “Denny” was a hard-working, dedicated farmer who was devoted to God, family, and the community.

He served in the Army during WWll from 1945-1946. After his service he married the love of his life, Lucille, “Lucy,” Blad/Lundeen on May 30th, 1947. To their union 5 children were born. He loved farming and ran his farms with the help of family. His love of farming led him to start his own used implement dealership in 1957 in Cokato on Highway 12. It was called Lundeen Implement. He ran this business with his son Jerry Lundeen, son-in-law Dave Rien, and grandson Jarrod Rien. As times changed his dealership became Lundeen Auto which he ran with his son Jerry and grandson Jeff Lundeen. He was very involved with church and served in many capacities at Albion Free Church, Elim Mission Church, a board member for The Evangelical Free Church of America, and as a board member for Camp Shamineau. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, bowling, and boxing. When he couldn’t actively participate in sporting events, he would watch them on television. You could easily find him in his recliner with a bowl of popcorn cheering on the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. If those two teams weren’t playing, he kept up with all the other current sporting events of the day. He and Lucy loved traveling and spent many winters in California where several of Lucy’s sisters resided. A big highlight was visiting Finland where their foreign exchange student, Paivi Rahunen lived.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Lundeen of 56 years, daughter Susan Jo Lundeen, his parents Reuben and Myrtle Lundeen, and his brother Bob and his wife Luaine Lundeen.

He was survived by four children: Gwen and (Dave) Rien of Cokato, Jerry and (Cheryl) Lundeen of Cokato, Peggy Lundeen of Lakeville, and Brenda and (Doug) Gare of Lakeville. He also was survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren: Terry and (Deb), Marcus, Devan; Jarrod and (Jen), Cameron and (Chandra), Phil and (Leah), Tyler and (Sarah), Allannah; Chad; Shane; Misse, Haley; Ryley and (Celia) Rien. Shelly Hasti; Ryan Lundeen, and Jeff Lundeen. Mackenzie and (Corey), Bella, Milo, Tyler Gare, and Jaden Quinn; Keegan, and Evan Gare.

A memorial and celebration of life for Dennis will be held Saturday, August 24th 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The service will be held at Highland Community Church, 13800 US-12, Cokato, MN 55321.
