Funeral Service For Edward G. Mattson will be at 3PM on Sunday, August 28 at the Albion Evangelical Free Church.
Visitation will begin there at 1PM
He passed away at the Annandale Care Center on August 15, 2011, and had reached the age of 93 years 2 months and 9 days.
Edward Mattson was born on June 6, 1918 to John E. and Elizabeth Mattson of Cokato. He grew up near Mud Lake and attended Myrbach School in rural Cokato, and attended Albion Evangelical Free Church.
On Dec. 29, 1945 Edward and Fern Carlen were married at North Crow River Lutheran Church in Knapp, MN. They were blessed with three children. They made thier home on a farm near West Albion for forty years. Ed was a dairy farmer and later worked at Richwell Furniture in Cokato. They attended Annandale Evangelical Free Church.
In retirement Ed and Fern enjoyed several winters at Bibleville in Alamo, TX. In 1995 they moved to Buffalo and attended Buffalo Covenant Church. Ed and Fern were active in the XYZ seniors group at the Covenant Church.
Ed enjoyed working with draft horses, raising cattle, traveling and camping. His two trips to Sweden were highlights in his life.
Survivors include: his children, Connie (Fred) Soch of Waubun, MN. DuWayne (Jeanne) Mattson of South Haven, MN. and Annette Mattson (Jeff Reardon) of Portland, OR. Grandchildren: Jennifer (Randy) Bartos of Waubun, MN. Jason (Beth) Soch of Swarthmore, PA. Mathew (Camille) Mattson of Rogers, MN. Mithcel Mattson (Jessica Holman) ofr Washington DC, Alyson Kraus (Max Brugger) and Amanda Kraus of Corvallis OR$. Great grandchildren: Melissa Bartos (Joe Zima), Molly Bartos, Mason Bartos, Zofia Soch, Hayden Soch and Maxwell Mattson. Great-great grandchild, Presley Zima. Sister Frances Madsen. Brothers, Chester and Robert Mattson.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Fern of 61 years, his parents and trhee siblings: Mabel Bowie, Ernest ande Raymond Mattson
