Carl Holm of Cokato Passed away suddenly while camping with his family in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Monday, August 6, 2018, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato.
Visitation: 4-7 PM Sunday at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato, and 1 hr prior to funeral service at church on Monday.

Carl Oscar Holm, was born August 30, 1934 in Cokato, MN to Franklin & Agnes (Bjurstrum) Holm, in Cokato, Minnesota. Carl was confirmed at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato and graduated from Cokato High school in 1952. After high school he went to Hanson Automotive trade school in Fargo, ND. He proudly served his country in the army from 1954-1956 in the Korean War. He went to Transportation Corps School for Railway Operations and then also served as military police in the army. He worked at the Howard Lake Ready-Mix for over 40 years and did construction in his retirement with Marvin Schultz & Ken Durdahl. He also worked at the hockey rink in Cokato for many years.
Carl was a lover of the outdoors and shared many fishing stories during his lifetime. He enjoyed many trips which often included fishing and during his last trip to Alaska said it was the “fishing of a lifetime.” Carl was an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cokato, the American Legion Honor Guard and Rainbow Sportsmen’s Club (where he helped with stew and pancake feeds and the annual ice fishing contest). He worked at the bingo tent at the Cokato Corn Carnival for decades.
Carl passed away suddenly on August 2, 2018 while camping in Two Harbors, MN. He was on his morning walk along Lake Superior when the Lord called him home. He had reached the age of 83 years, 11 months and 2 days.
. He is survived by his wife Margy (Horsch) of 57 years, children Ronnie (Heidi) Holm, Scott Holm, Penny Peterson. Grandchildren Ashley (Christian) Dauer and great granddaughter Finley; Jamie Peterson; Jacob Holm. Step-grandchildren Brandon, Stephen, & Ashley Zwirn. Siblings Helen Peterson, Chester Holm, Stanley Holm, and Arlene Phinney. Carl also had many nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Agnes Holm, father and mother-in-law Raymond and Lillie Horsch, brother Ronald, sisters Evelyn Hintz & Edith Peterson, brothers-in-law Ellwood Hintz, Eldon Peterson, and Omar Peterson, niece Connie Holtz and other relatives and close friends.

Marjorie “Marge” Jean Tesch, age 86 of Howard Lake, was born April 29, 1932 in St. James, Minnesota. She died in her sleep July 28, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Home of Howard Lake.
Marge grew up on a farm near Butterfield, Minnesota. She was baptized, and confirmed, and married, at the First Lutheran Church in Butterfield and graduated from High School there. She studied at St. Olaf College and the Minnesota School of Art.
Marge married James “Jim” Tesch on March 14, 1954. They began their life together in Watertown, Minnesota then moved to Mayer, Minnesota for 12 years and finally ended up in Howard Lake, Minnesota in 1967 until now.
Marge was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church where she served several Years as church secretary. She was artfully talented and did classroom murals and stitched hardanger for the communion alter as well as sewed many quilts with the quilting club. She loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ all her life at home with family, and in church. Marge also worked as a dental assistant for the late Dr Elmer Thiesee in the 1970’s and 80’s.
She is survived by: her husband James, son Douglas Tesch, daughter Jeanne (Gary) Theobald, Son Brian (Sheri) Tesch, granddaughters: Stacie Constantian, Stephanie (Aaron) Broughton, Courtney Tesch, and grandson Nathan Tesch. great-grandchildren: Sylvie and Ladd Broughton. Five brothers: Marland, Chuck (Polly), Howard (Ellen), DuWayne (Angie) and Claire (Rae) Madson, as well as many nephews and nieces and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Preceded in death were her parents: Harold and Linnea (Warling) Madson of Butterfield, Minnesota.
She will be loved and missed by all who know her.

Leonard Orrin Albrecht was born 11/3/1923 at Howard Lake, Minnesota, to William Fredrick and Ella Louise (Shepperd) Albrecht. He was Baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church, of Howard Lake, Minnesota, and attended Dutch Lake School through the 8th grade.
He grew up on the farm in Howard Lake and except for military service stayed there his entire life. On January 5, 1944 Leonard was inducted into the US Army Air Force. He served until April 9, 1946. After service Leonard returned to the farm. About 20 years ago Leonard moved to town. He enjoyed fishing and trapping, his church was very important to him.
Leonard passed away at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center on the morning of July 20, 2018. He had reached the age of 94 years, 8 months, and 17 days.
Survivors include his nephews: John Domres of Waconia, and Jim (Janice) Domres of New Ulm. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Ella, and sister Gladys Domres.

Funeral Service: 10 AM Monday July 23, 2018, at St. James Lutheran Church of Howard Lake. Visitation 1 hr prior to service. Interment; St. James Lutheran Cemtery.

Hazel Marice Oberpriller of Howard Lake passed away on Thursday July12,2018 in her
home surrounded by family in Annandale, Minnesota.

Hazel was born May 14, 1933 to Richard SR. and Luella (Townsend) Weller in
Greenwood, Minnesota. She was the youngest of five siblings. Hazel attended Rockford school in her early years and attended Howard Lake public school when they moved to the Weller farm. She graduated in 1952. She lived with her friend Arlene in Minneapolis where she worked at Montgomery wards after she graduated.

Hazel was united in marriage to John (Jack) Oberpriller on April 24, 1954 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Maple Lake, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Minneapolis where Hazel worked in the banking industry and Woolworths clothing store. They were blessed with Kevin at this point. John and Hazel moved their family back to Howard Lake in the spring of 1957 to help out on the Weller farm. God blessed them with Sharrie, Elaine and Timothy. In 1962 Hazel and Jack purchased the property on highway 12 in Howard Lake. Here Janelle was born. Hazel and Jack started the Salvage business along with their good friends Dale and Joyce Thorson. T&O Auto Parts was born. Hazel became bookkeeper, secretary, and wore many hats after this. They were partners in business for 38 years but friends forever. Hazel was an active member in her community. She was a member of the Eastern Star from 1976-2006, The Howard Lake Lioness club from1980 to 2005 where she was president and treasurer for a time, ST. Mary’s Catholic Church and was also a money counter there. Hazel did so many other things for the community. She gave from her heart and made many long lasting friendships along the way.

Hazel loved to fish, crochet, garden and travel. She traveled to Florida, Wyoming, Oregon,
Colorado, Nevada, Alaska and Israel. She particularly liked the hot springs they found
Along the road while traveling.
She loved her family. She liked going out to eat with them or just hanging out interacting
With her Grandchildren and Great grand children.

Hazel is survived by her daughters Sharrie (Douglas) Brown, Elaine (Patrick) Hurley, and
Janelle (Thomas) Sullivan, 10 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren, her brothers
Richard Jr. and Willard Weller and Sister Varona Klugow.

Hazel is preceded in death by: Husband John, Sons Kevin and Timothy, Sister Rosalie
Boeson, Nephew Bruce Weller, parents Richard and Luella Weller and Great Grandson
Charles Schwarzkopf.

The Wake service will be on Friday July 27, 2018 at Swanson-Peterson funeral home in
Howard Lake from 4-8pm… The prayer service will be at 7pm officiated by father Greg
Paffel. A Christian Mass will be held on Saturday July 28th at St. Mary’s Church in
Waverly. Visitation is from 9:30-10-45am.Mass at 11:00 with Father Kenneth O-Hotto and
Father Greg Paffel.

Holm, Donald John
age 83, of Cokato, passed away on July 16, 2018. He was born on July 23, 1934 on a very hot day on the kitchen table of the Stockholm township farm of Elin and Arthur Holm. Donald graduated from Cokato High School and attended the University of Minnesota Agriculture School in St. Paul. He entered into the U.S. Army on 1.20.54. Served in Germany in Battery C 45th AA Bn as a heavy artillery fire control crewman (radar operator). He was a member of the VFW and served as post commander of the local American Legion. Donald farmed in Stockholm township the remainder of his life. He was elected to the Soil Conservation board in the 1970’s. He married Jeanette Hafften of Buffalo on November 18, 1961. Taking home movies was a passion of Donald and one of the lasting gifts to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, children, Mark (Susie), Bradley (Beth), Julie (John Newstrom) and Karen (Lance Vargason), and grandchildren, Cassidy and Derek Holm, Samantha and Jack Newstrom, and Taylor and Carli Vargason.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato.
