Polzin, Mary Anne 67

Mary Anne Polzin was born on June 2, 1944 at the Cokato Hospital to Kenneth and Marian (Hultgren) Pearson.  She grew up on a farm in Knapp (Cokato Township) and was baptized and confirmed at the North Crow River Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Cokato High School in 1962.  After high school, she attended Mankato State University and then dental assistant school.

On Sunday, August 23, 1964, Mary wed Wallace Polzin.  The ceremony took place at the North Crow River Lutheran Church and was officiated by Rev. Olson.  Wallace was in the Air Force at the time, and the couple first lived in Tampa, Florida, and later West Berlin, Germany.  After serving four years in the military, Mary and Wallace settled in Coon Rapids and later moved to Ramsey, Minnesota.

Mary worked as a dental assistant for a short time and later worked as a home health aide in Anoka County before retiring.

Mary was heavily involved in her church, St. John’s Lutheran of Elk River.  She enjoyed music and singing, she was an active gardener, and raised chickens.  She loved playing Bunko, was active in the Anoka food shelf, and very much enjoyed her Swedish heritage.  She was an avid Twins baseball and Gopher football fan, but watching her grandchildren’s events was by far her favorite past time.  Most of all, she loved her family.

Mary passed away suddenly at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota on Thursday, December 29, 2011.  She reached the age of 67 years, 6 months, and 27 days.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Wallace, of 47 years, her children Jeff (Tiffany) Polzin of Otsego, and Doug (Tracy) Polzin of Oak Grove, grandchildren Jon and Lauren, sisters Rochelle (Elmer) Lalim of Richfield and Margaret (David) Allen of Lakeville, and her aunt, Joyce Nelson of Mankato.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory. And parents Kenneth and Marion Pearson.

Funeral Service for Mary Polzin will be at 11AM Monday January 2 at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Elk River.  visitation will be on Sunday from 4-7 at the church.  Interment will be at the North Crow River Lutheran Church North of Cokato.
