Catherine “Cathy” Elizabeth (Brezina) Stenberg, age 46 of Cokato, died at her home, surrounded by family, Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Cathy battled with brain cancer for 11 years.
Cathy Stenberg, the daughter of Roger and Le Ann (Seurer) Brezina, was born November 22, 1975 in Mankato.
Cathy attended schools in California, Colorado and graduated from New Prague High School in 1993. She then attended St. Cloud State where she received her AA Degree.
Cathy was united in marriage to Dean Stenberg on May 4, 2002 at Shepard of the Hills in Chaska. They made their home in Cokato. Together, they were blessed with three children, Axel, Veronica and Drake.
Cathy enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards and especially loved doing puzzles. She enjoyed traveling including Texas, Nevada, Alaska, Japan and Peru.
Cathy worked many years at the Municipal Bar in Howard Lake and worked in the Deli at the Market Place in Cokato.
Cathy is survived by Dean Stenberg of Cokato, son Axel USMC, Camp Pendleton, CA, daughter Veronica and son Drake of Cokato. Parents Roger and Le Ann Brezina of New Prague, Sisters Laurie Brezina of Las Vegas, Nevada and Rebecca (Phil) Binek of Howard Lake and bothers Christopher Brezina of Cottage Grove and Jason Brezina of Rochester, sister-in-law Lauri (Darrin) Zumach of Buffalo, nieces Chantelle Brezina, Bailey and Ivy Binek, Kaylee and Kari Zumach, Grandmother Ellen Brezina of New Prague. Cathy is preceded in death by her grandparents Lambert and Ruth Seurer, step-grandmother LaVonne Seurer, grandfather George Brezina Sr, parents in law Verdell and Mary Stenberg, Aunt Ruth Seurer, Uncle Ken Hentges and Aunt Jane Brezina.
Funeral services will be December 18, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Visitation from 10:00am to 12:00 until mass at Noon.
