Tormanen, Ellen 91

Ellen Catherine (Aho) Tormanen, age 91, of Cokato, passed away October 30, 2012 at Cokato Manor. She was born to Charles and Minnie Aho on October 28, 1921 in Cokato, Minnesota, Middleville Township. She grew up in the Cokato area and attended rural Ojanpera School, and graduated from Cokato High School in 1939. After she graduated from high school, she stayed at home to help with work on the farm.

Ellen was united in marriage to Edwin Tormanen on April 12, 1947 at the Cokato Apostolic Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Minneapolis and Chaska, and returned to Cokato in 1952. They farmed for 13 years and then moved to the city of Cokato. Ellen worked for the Blaha Grocery store and Tri Town Grocery, and was a custodian for the Cokato Museum for 27 ½ years.

Ellen is survived by her sisters, Esther Simonson, Lempi Koivisto, and Lorraine (Robert) Wisuri, brother-in-law, Daniel (Arlene) Tormanen, sisters-in-law, Eva Rukes, MaryAnn (Richard) Pierson, and Agnes Tormanen, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, along with brothers, Eino and Melvin Aho.
Funeral service: Friday, November 2, 11 am at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Dassel, MN.

Visitation: Thursday, November 1, 5-8 pm at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato and 1 hour prior to services at the church.

Interment: Cokato Finnish Cemetery immediately following service at church.
